Lake Apopka Natural Gas District is proud to announce that applications are now open for our
Skilled Trades Scholarship.
This scholarship is designed to support graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue a trade or technical education and are committed to building hands-on skills that strengthen the communities of
West Orange and South Lake Counties. At LANGD, we believe investing in the skilled trades is an investment in our future workforce and the quality of life in the areas we serve.
Scholarship Award Details:- Award Amount: Up to $2,000 per recipient.
- Number of Awards: 10 total (one scholarship for each high school in West Orange and South Lake Counties).
- Use of Funds: Tuition, books, tools, and other educational expenses related to trade/technical education.
- Disbursement: Funds will be sent directly to the institution or reimbursed with proof of expense.
Eligibility CriteriaTo be considered, applicants must:
- Be a graduating high school senior
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Plan to enroll in a trade or technical program at a two-year college or accredited trade school
Application RequirementsApplicants must submit:
- Completed online application form
- Official transcript showing GPA
- Two letters of recommendation (from a current/former teacher or employer/supervisor)
- A 500-word essay to demonstrate your commitment to a career in skilled trades by answering: “Why I want to pursue a career in the skilled trades and how I plan to use my education to serve my community.”
Selection Criteria:- Academic performance
- Strength of recommendations
- Quality and clarity of essay
- Overall alignment with goals of skilled trade careers
- Community involvement and leadership (optional but considered)

Review & Selection: April 2026
Recipient Notification: May 1, 2026
Fund Disbursement: June–August 2026
