LAKE APOPKA NATURAL GAS DISTRICT’S MONICA MARLOW APPOINTED TO AMERICAN PUBLIC GAS ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS
As a Member of the Board, Marlow Hopes to Improve Consumer Education Around Natural Gas.
WINTER GARDEN, Fla. (Dec. 13, 2023) – Lake Apopka Natural Gas District Director of Marketing and Business Development Monica Marlow has been named one of 14 new additions to the American Public Gas Association’s (APGA) board of directors. Marlow, an industry veteran with a track record of dedication and service within the natural gas industry, will serve a three-year term on the APGA board, where she hopes to spend time improving consumer education around natural gas.
“This is a dream come true for me. To be appointed as a board member for the American Public Gas Association, it means the world to me professionally and personally,” said Marlow.
As one of nearly 40 APGA board members from around the country, Marlow plans to utilize her new platform to expand her passion for natural gas and continue educating the public about the advantages of the robust energy source. Marlow joins fellow industry colleagues Stephen Mayfield (City of Tallahassee) and Bob Thilmony (City of Leesburg) as the newest Florida representatives on the APGA board.
Marlow has been a member of APGA since 2007, where she began by attending marketing and sales committee meetings, and sitting in on public board meetings. She was also a member of the NGV committee (2009-2022), as well as the Direct-Use Task Group (2015-present), which aims to educate homeowners on the efficiencies of the direct-use natural gas. She also serves on the board of directors for the APGA Research Foundation (2017-present), which reviews and evaluates research efforts for the natural gas industry that are being developed by manufacturers. Additionally, Marlow frequently attends various APGA trainings and conferences to further her understanding of the natural gas industry.
“It is a joy to work with Monica,” said LANGD CEO Samuel Davis Jr. “She is eager to explore new areas of marketing and has done an excellent job in helping to expand our efforts on social media. A team player, Monica works well with her colleagues in marketing. As a specialist, with her time divided across many responsibilities, she balances competing needs with humor and professionalism. She is adept at identifying media outlets and achieving press coverage for the direct use of natural gas.”
Marlow joined Lake Apopka Natural Gas District in 2013 as a marketing specialist. Prior to that, she spent 15 years at the City of Richmond, where she worked as a marketing specialist for new residential and mixed-use developments. In her time with Lake Apopka Natural Gas District, Marlow has helped the company expand to over 28,000 current commercial and residential customers, bringing the District’s natural gas services to businesses and homeowners who want to enjoy the benefits of the reliable and versatile energy source while also saving money on their utility bills.
“This is what I love to do,” said Marlow. “I’m very passionate about our industry and what we get to do for homeowners and businesses, and that’s why I wanted to serve on the board to help the public understand why natural gas is essential and educate them on the science behind it.”
