Report a Natural Gas Leak

Natural gas emergencies are time-sensitive and require immediate action.

If the gas system is operated by Lake Apopka Natural Gas District, contact us immediately:

If you suspect a natural gas leak, leave the area immediately and follow the steps below. If there is immediate danger, call 9-1-1 first.

What To Do

  • Step 1: Stop and Leave
    • Turn off and abandon any motorized equipment you may be operating.
    • Leave the area immediately.
  • Step 2: Warn Others
    • Alert others nearby to stay away from the area.
  • Step 3: Call for Emergency Help
    • From a safe location, call your local fire department by dialing 9-1-1.
  • Step 4: Notify the Gas Utility
    • If the gas system is operated by Lake Apopka Natural Gas District, contact us immediately:

If the gas system is operated by another provider, contact them immediately.

What NOT To Do

DO NOT create flames or sparks

  • Avoid using open flames or anything that could generate a spark, including phones, flashlights, vehicles, or battery-powered tools.

DO NOT try to stop or control the gas

  • Do not attempt to extinguish a fire, operate valves, or block escaping gas.
